Description This lamp was manufactured by the Heraeus company in the town of Hanau, Germany. The iron base has the original company tag. The company’s roots go back to a family pharmacy started in 1660. In the early 20th century, Heraeus invented the mercury vapor lamp, which subsequently led to the development of the tanning lamp. Today, Heraeus is a conglomerate still headquartered in Hanau that includes businesses in the environmental, electronics, health, and industrial applications sectors. Condition: Generally very good with the usual overall light toning, oxidation, wear. Recently rewired for standard lamp use. The aluminum shade is in aged tone; it can also be polished bright and reflective at additional cost.
