A tabletop adjustable antique British mahogany bookstand in the Georgian taste, for the display or reading of a book. Of typical form, having a rectangular backrest with a rectangular support at the lower edge, raised on a turned stand with central standard and round dish base. The bookstand is adjustable in angle, rotatable, and telescoping in height with a mechanism in the back that tightens and releases for adjustment with the turn of two wooden thumbscrews. Condition: Generally very good with the usual overall light wear and handling. Formerly with brass stops in the lower edge.
