Ferrari Citrus Prints Private Collection, London, UK August 2021 The George Glazer Gallery sold a pair of citrus prints from Hesperides Sive de Malorum Aureorum Cultura et Usu Libri Quatuor, compiled in 1646 by the erudite Italian Jesuit scholar and professor Giovanni Battista Ferrari. The client sent these pictures of them displayed in the dressing room on the first floor of the 17th century part of his house, next to a a mid-18th century gilt-wood mirror with Prince of Wales feathers. Below them is a mid-18th century mahogany basin and wig stand. In front is a Sheraton octagonal tripod table in mahogany cross-banded in satinwood and a Queen Anne cabriole-legged side chair. They stand on a 19th century Persian Bakhtiari carpet. He also commented, “My mind constantly returns to the fact that Galileo was a friend of Ferrari and may have looked through the very folio from which these pages came!” Read more customer testimonials.
