Bas Armagnac VS Baco, Artez
$30.59
$48.33
Artez is located in the western part of Bas-Armagnac, also known as Premier Cru. Its hillside vineyards are around 40 years old growing Baco, Ugni Blanc and Folle Blanche vines. These grape varietes are harvested, vinified, distilled in the property’s still and then aged separately in oak barrels. Artez is unique in producing single-grape Bas Armagnacs, which requires special skills from the distiller. Each vintage is different because of annual variations in sunshine and rainfall but Artez say their armagnacs are notable for their smoothness and aromatic intensity. The Baco grape appeared in France after Phylloxera; it gives eaux de vie roundness, smoothness and aromas of ripe fruits. Mellow, with appealing flavours of roasted caramel and a hint of spice. 92pts Wine Enthusiast
